Jewelry experts - is it risky to purchase wedding rings online?

There wont be any colour difference between 14k and 18k white gold but you might find that the 14k ring will rub the 18k as its softer (gold is softer the purer it is) and you will need to have it rhodium plated more frequently then normal. White gold needs plating every few months so you will be forever doing it!! I would recommend getting 14k if you can but white gold is a pain either way! Its no more risky buying online then in a shop, if you dont know what your looking at then you can still end up with a fake when buying from a shop! The better reason to go to a shop is that you can see the ring in the flesh, check out the stones and the quality. With online it will be just a general picture of a ring and wont be the one they send you! So be careful!! Diamonds are completely different from ring to ring so look out!
