I had the surgery in 1977 and it was a complicated affair. I was kept flat on my back for two weeks. I had a second op in 1990 and it was totally different. I was out of bed the next day walking around with support and home two days later. They eased the pain really well but it does not cure the underlying problem, just makes it less painful.
