Strange dreams about running away?

I've had these dreams for a few years; I'm always running away from home on foot, with my father chasing me. I get tired a few miles in, usually after traveling through a lot of country roads and small forests, and hide in the bushes surrounding someone's house. It's now night. I find my way to a car/taxi/bus and leave the state, with my father in his car in pursuit. I come to a coastal state (I live in the Midwest and hate it) and take a trip on a ship. I start having an affair with a guy I meet there. This part is especially weird, because I'm a lesbian. For some reason, the ship only takes us back and forth, never farther away from the states. I step out on to the docks for the last time, and my dad catches me and takes me home. The entire time, I'm experiencing such adrenaline, hysteria, and paranoia surrounding being caught that the dreams are almost night-terrors. What does this mean?
