What is the point in god?

Why should you suffer all your life if there is no solid proof of heaven only a book? What if there is nothing that makes your christian life pointless I mean it's not like he came straight to you face to face and said bust your *** and don't sin so try and answer that if you think you've had any more proof of god than a book
